Jnana Yoga with Dawn Balfour

The practice of Yoga is a science created to build union between body, mind and spirit. In short it is about making balance and creating equanimity so as to live in peace, good health and harmony with the greater whole. This art of right living was perfected and practiced in India thousands of years ago and the foundations of yoga philosophy were written down in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, approximately 200 AD. This sacred text describes the inner workings of the mind and provides an eight-step path to help with its restlessness so as to enjoying lasting peace. In the West there is more emphasis on teaching the physical aspects of Yoga, this group has been created to delve deeper into the more subtle aspects of Yoga.

Intention

? To explore the 8 limbs of Yoga and how to integrate them in daily life

? To explore the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspect of our own spiritual practice and to journal our findings

? To study 1 spiritual book over the 4 weeks

? Every week you will be invited to delve deeper into a different aspect of yourself through mindfulness, meditation and reflection

The Study Group will be led by Certified Yoga Instructor, Therapist and Practitioner, Dawn Balfour, who enjoys studying each week to bring new elements of Yoga into her life and into her classes. Dawn?s goal is for like-minded people to come together to enjoy learning new aspects of Yoga, to practice together, learn more about themselves and to find the tools to be able to live life more fully in the present moment. She hopes the Group will allow you to take your practice off the mat and into other areas of your life.
